Affirmations – The Access to Altering Your Sub-Conscious
Most of us are aware of the two minds operating within each of us – the conscious and the sub-conscious minds. The conscious mind is reading this blog post right now. The sub-conscious mind is providing little opinions about the post. During the day we operate under the control of both the conscious mind and the sub-conscious mind. When we sleep the sub-conscious mind takes over full control.
Our conscious mind operates through language, the sub-conscious mind communicates through images, symbols and emotion; it does not have language, like you are reading here.
The sub-conscious mind stores our habits and beliefs and is directly affected by the input of our conscious mind. The sub-conscious mind then influences our daily interaction with our world.
We control the input to the sub-conscious mind so it is in our best interest to feed it the most positive, uplifting and empowering thoughts. And we do this through affirmations.
What are affirmations?
Affirmations are conscious thoughts in statement form that can be used to influence the sub-conscious mind. Bob Proctor was never as correct as when he said, “What you think about you bring about.”
Getting affirmations to work necessitates that we infuse emotion into vividly visualized images while reciting our affirmation. It is the feeling you get from saying the affirmation that connects with the sub-conscious mind.
Interestingly, the sub-conscious mind cannot process negative words. Try this – do NOT think of a pink elephant. Oops, it is there in your mind big a day, isn’t it? This is why affirmations cannot be effective if they include a negative, such as, “I no longer have debt,” translates to the sub-conscious mind as “I have debt.”
We’ve all had the experience of driving to a destination and not remembering the actual drive. Our conscious mind was thinking of other things while the sub-conscious mind got us there. Since the sub-conscious mind controls our habits and our behavioral patterns to change a habit or behavior you must affect your sub-conscious mind. Now, I can’t speak to the validity of changing a habit takes 21-days, but I am certain that infusing your affirmations with high emotion and repeating them often will shorten the time needed to affect a change in a habit.
Affirm with Emotion
When you say your affirmations saturate them with feeling and emotion. Visualize the thing you are affirming so you can see the result and feel the uplifting emotional charge. Let it raise your vibrational level. Drench your affirmation in raw emotion and see what happens.
The reward for feeling your affirmation is twofold – first, you speak the language of the sub-conscious mind and, secondly, you put the universe on notice of your intention through the Law of Attraction. Since like vibrations attract like the higher your emotional vibration the higher the rate of response.
So, when you think about financial success say, “I am a magnet for abundance and money,” see the influence the magnet has on your world, see and FEEL the cash flowing into your hands, filling your wallet, growing your bank account. Let the vibration of success and joy wash over you. When you experience the heightened senses your sub-conscious mind can’t help but get the message. And, with repetition of daily affirmations, you will train neuro-pathways in your brain into a belief system and you will naturally form supporting habits around that system.
Translate the words of your affirmation into symbols, images and emotion of a high vibrational frequency.
Try it for yourself. Get comfortable and relaxed. Take a simple affirmation like, “I am powerful, energetic and strong.” Repeat it in your mind over and over. Let the words transform from language into feelings, into sights and sounds. Feel the high vibration of your increased energy. Sense the power you possess to cause the things you want to happen in your life. Know you have the strength to endure all to victory. Let the joy of it wash over your entire existence. Feel the broad grin overtake your expression. Hold that feeling and emotion… and then repeat it again, “I am powerful, energetic and strong!”
Can you now feel the affirmation working? Isn’t that feeling exciting?!? I think so too!
You can create affirmations for any part of your life – financial, career, relationships, family, home, autos, education… you name it, and you can affirm it. Hey, how about leaving us a comment with your favorite affirmation to share.
