Resolve – Healthy Food Choices in 2011

As the year draws to a close healthy food choices is probably not high on the reflection list. Our thoughts turn to accomplishments, met goals and last New Year’s Resolutions. With confidence, many of you resolved to lose weight, get healthier and stick with it. Time to review.

Quick vocabulary lesson: The word “resolve” means to come to a definite or earnest decision about; to determine to do something; firmness of purpose; to make up the mind of; cause to decide. When you resolve you close the door on any alternatives, put your blinders on and push forward with your commitment. OK?

For those whose year was a bit off track, unrewarding, unfulfilling or a complete health related bust, how about looking toward 2011? May we suggest?

Get a health and wellness coach. There is no sin in having a coach or mentor. Every professional athlete has a coach, several to be accurate. Singers and dancers have coaches. Get one for your weight loss commitment, your healthy eating, for your well being in 2011.

Create a plan of attack. All great battles were planned. As general of your troops, how would you lead them to victory with the fewest casualties? What would you do to adjust your plan when something unforeseen occurs? Write out what you will do each day, each week. How much territory will you conquer? Anticipate the stumbling blocks and set up for them.

For instance, if you know you have had trouble sticking with a health program, predict just where you are going to go off track. You’ve been there before, prepare for it, watch for it and then this time move past it.

If sweets are your nemesis, plan to keep them out of the house, out of reach. Give them a wide berth when near them. Substitute something less detrimental like a veggie snack with peanut butter, a tall glass of water with some nuts or other protein. Plan to be drawn to sweets and have a strategy to move beyond them, distract yourself until the urge is gone.

You know your weakness, we all do. It is what you do when you come face to face with the failing that makes a difference. Does your next action move you further away from your resolution or closer to it?

Keep your resolve squarely in front of you, as a reminder to your commitment and you too will have a great year of resolve.

When I originally commented I clicked the -Notify me when new feedback are added- checkbox and now each time a remark is added I get 4 emails with the same comment. Is there any way you may remove me from that service? Thanks!

Next time you get those emails look toward the bottom. There should be a link where you can edit your preferences. Ed.

Just book mark the page and return often, it saves paper that way. And, if you are interested you can learn about nutritional cleansing at http://nutritionalcleanse.net. RICK
