With the first hurdle of Thanksgiving literally under your belt holiday eating can be healthy eating. With so many holiday temptations ahead thought you could use a couple of holiday healthy eating tips.
Here are just 7 healthy eating tips that will help you get through the holidays.
1. Eat before you eat. Never go to a party or holiday gathering on an empty stomach. Just like you’re advised not to go to the grocery store hungry, use the same technique with holiday gatherings. If you go with an empty stomach you’ll want to fill it.
2. Keep your activity high. Don’t slack off your level of activity just because it’s winter. Find ways to maintain activity to keep your metabolism fired up. It will probably take extra effort during the colder months, but the pay off is worth it.
3. Balance proteins, complex carbs and fats at every meal and snack. When you balance your food intake for your particular metabolism you help to burn excess fat. At every holiday opportunity you should balance. If you’re not sure the kind of metabolism you have then you can take a free survey to find out at http://www.survey.goingfat2lean.com.
4. Don’t deny yourself. Have a taste of what ever you want, just a taste. That way you
won’t feel deprived of any holiday treats. Taste wisely and don’t go back for a second “taste”. That doesn’t work.
5. Steer away from the food. At buffet events or office parties stay away from the spread on purpose. If you have a conversation right next to the food you will unthinkingly graze as you talk. If you are away from the food the temptation can’t happen.
6. Review your wellness commitment daily! Create several little cards that you can place in strategic locations, carry one with you, have it in the car so you can review it before you step into a holiday event. If you have a perspective on your wellness you will be less likely to stray from it.
7. Plan a reward for yourself for maintaining your holiday food goal. If you set up a goal to get through the holidays at the same weight or even lose some weight you should do something great for yourself. As creatures of habit having a “carrot on a stick” for your success is a good idea.
Well, there’s a quick seven ideas to help you get through this holiday season. Actually, you can apply them throughout the year. Good luck, and if you have a question or a thought you’d like to pass along please do not hesitate to contact either of us at lynn@goingfat2lean.com or
