A diet plan mentality tends to be restrictive and you don’t really make healthy choices. They are so limiting that you either don’t stay on it or you stay on it just until you lose the weight you want. A diet plan is when you watch how many calories you put in your mouth, you count points in a diet points program or you start a strenuous exercise program hoping that will make a difference. You follow a restrictive plan that doesn’t suit your life style. When you go back to eating the way you did before the diet regime, all that weight you lost comes right back with interest. is, is afraid it is going to starve, so it holds on to fat and burns muscle. When you start gaining again, you keep adding to the fat. The restrictive, negative thinking of the diet plan mentality sets you up over and over again for struggles and almost certain defeat.

A healthy life style mentality is about you and the positive approach you take for your life. What are your health goals and weight loss goal and desires? What are you going to do to have the energy, longevity and life style you want? With proper motivation behind your wellness goal a life style change isn’t restrictive. A healthy life style is about transforming your relationship to food, eating, physical activity and time. It’s about developing a positive mental attitude to feel satisfied and happy with you. It is about make healthy choices and taking time for yourself to relax and reflect. Taking responsibility and control will have you lose your weight successfully and help you feel good about what you are doing. You gain power over your life when you make a life style change and a healthy life style choice.

    Hi Rick ~ I couldn’t agree more with your post…for me, it’s always been about a lifestyle change rather than a “diet plan”, and it truly is a transformation that eventually takes place when you add the proper balance to your lifestyle, nutrition and exercise needs. :-) Christine
